"Functional neural mechanisms of timing and action".

The past decade has witnessed a resurgence of studies investigating the neural mechanisms subserving timing and rhythmic functions. However, much remains unexplored with regards to how the brain mediates temporal perception. In this talk, I will discuss recent studies demonstrate a fractionation of time and rhythm in the brain, with separate networks and coding properties that are both task and duration dependent. I will also present new evidence that the brain continuously revises internal estimates of temporal stability and predictability, and that these functions are moderated by motor circuits.
